Experience
I was trained as a research scientist - working with newts, fungi, plants, and viruses. The research was interesting and challenging, but I found that my real passion was for teaching. I have helped tutor all levels of students from elementary up to graduate students. One common factor is that students learn better when the lesson is something they can "see" or relate to. I strive to find ways to help make topics relevant to each student. Relevance helps students understand why their learning is important and helps student retain the information for later use or recall. I'm am excited to be a Varsity Tutor and look forward to working with students of all ages.
